This is a presentation that was given by Dave Eggers on community oriented tutoring centers. He’s the author of A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius which, despite the tongue in cheek title, really is just that. Its also one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. Eggers is an incredible philanthropist and advocate for students and teachers in the public school system.

Well, we’re back home and back to reality. I have 8-10 loads of laundry I need to do, 8-10 bills I need to pay, and an 8-10 page paper on balanced literacy I need to write. Grrrrr.

But as I try to see the bright side of the the ‘need to’s’ going on right now, I will keep looking back on these ‘were able to’s’ and feel thankful.

So we’re beach bound again this week. Chris is going to come with us this time and so is Nana. That means fun family time during the day and laid back couple time in the evenings!  Three cheers for two trips to the beach in one month and three cheers for Nanas! I have school tonight and all day tomorrow and we leave at the crack of dawn on Sunday. Kind of begs the question, “Why am I typing a rambling blog entry instead of, ya know, PACKING!?”
